NEW NARATIVE ON SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP

It is a new field going through drastic revolution as compared to the traditional kind of entrepreneurship which was all about fronting an idea and working on it. The traditional entrepreneurs thought people of selfishness and too much individualism. This is not a recipe for development.

While attending “mind speaks” today 30th august 2014, it was evident from the vibrant discussion of young African minds that we are undergoing a critical change in the mind set of our people. Many are hungry to make a change to the lives of the others. While giving his history, Dennis Makori one of the YALI beneficiaries explained how the need to help other people has pushed him to embrace one hen project which has cause a great change in Kisii region in Kenya. This is a living testimony of what the youth can do, what they dream of.

It does not matter where you were born, it doesn’t matter your current state. All this does not define you. What defines you is what you have saturated in your mind, what is predominant. Like Dennis said in that meeting his motto is that” our minds become magnetized by dominating thoughts which we hold in our minds and by the means by which no is familiar, these magnets attract to us the forces, the people and circumstances of life which harmonize with nature out of our dominating thoughts”. When I heard this I was dumbfounded, I just discovered that more than I imagine more people are thinking positively about the lives of others.

The older generation should help us learn more of the mistakes that we should not repeat that happened during their time. It is my wish that as this revolution of ideas start taking course may we embrace it and learn to run with it.
